About

National History

On December 1, 1987 at Binghamton University, Founding Mothers Cynthia Santiago, Adriana Zamora, Carmen Ibeth Garcia-Quinones and Carol Elizabeth Torres created an organization that would serve as a voice for women in an academic setting. They envisioned an organization that would provide sincere sisterhood and unconditional support while actively promoting academic achievement, service to the community, and cultural enrichment.

Chapter Summary

On March 26, 2005 the Alpha Zeta chapter was established at Virginia Commonwealth University by Hermana Jennifer Villalobos-Peyton. She saw a need for an organization to empower and uplift Latinos in the community as well as provide a voice and sisterhood for Latinas on campus. Since it's founding, Alpha Zeta is proud to have participated and held numerous programming and community service activities that uphold the goals and ideals of the organization.
